UPDATED: Deeds ‘honored’ to be newly named Finance Director in Seneca Co.

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors has officially named a Finance Department Director.

Brandi Deeds, a Seneca Falls resident won out in a comprehensive and competitive selection process, which took a total of three-months. Deeds is a LeMoyne college graduate earning a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in finance.

In a press release Friday, Seneca County Manager John Sheppard said that a total of 15 candidates were considered — with Deeds winning out due to her recent roles with the Seneca Cayuga ARC.

Deeds told FingerLakes1.com on Saturday that she is honored to have been selected and believes that it is a great opportunity professionally and personally:

“I am honored to be selected as the candidate for the position of Director of Finance at Seneca County. This is an amazing opportunity for me both professionally and personally. I feel that all my experiences, but more specifically my time at the Arc of Seneca Cayuga, has prepared me to be successful as the Director of Finance. I look forward to working with an amazing team to achieve the county’s vision to centralize the fiscal administration efforts.”

Deeds rose from Program Accountant to Director of Fiscal Operations in just four years, according to Sheppard. According to Sheppard, some of the skills that set her apart from others considered for the position included payroll administration, accounting, budget and cost analysis, as well as her experience with organizations like Finger Lakes Medical Associates LLC, Finger Lakes Health, Empire Medicare Services, and United Parcel Service INC.

Sheppard voiced his relief that the board of supervisors had made a ‘timely decision’ on this matter. I am relieved the BOS made a timely decision to hire Ms. Deeds. She possesses the skill and has demonstrated achievements aligned with the county’s vision to centralized the fiscal administration efforts,” explained Sheppard.

He went on to point out that, Brandi will be instrumental in this transition and together with the Treasurer, Departmental Directors and BOS leadership the pieces are already lining up. The newly formed Finance Department is an essential ‘corner stone’ toward an organization of efficiency, value and likely enhanced services.”

Deeds will lead the Seneca County Finance Department and will have a starting salary of $75,000.
