On Thursday, around 1:37 am the Ithaca Police Department responded to the 100 block of East State Street for the report of a robbery that had occurred around 1:20 am. Officers say they responded and interviewed the victim, who had minor injuries. Police say that victim was walking west on East Buffalo Street when he was grabbed from behind by his shirt when the suspect asked him to turn over his wallet. The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money at which point the suspect also demanded the victims phone.After unsuccessfully fighting for the individual’s phone, the suspect escaped the area in an unknown direction with both money and the mobile device. Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim suffered from minor injuries after the suspect had punched him in the face, according to police.The victim declined medical treatment and the suspect was described as an African American male, of average height and weight, wearing dark colored clothing.
