High speed chase in Schuyler Co. leads to double arrest

On Tuesday at about 5:00 pm Schuyler County Sheriff Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on State Route 414 in the Town of Dix. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led Sheriff’s Deputies and State Troopers on a high speed chase into Chemung County on several back roads. The chase then proceeded back onto State Route 414 and back into Schuyler County, before the vehicle was stopped on Price Road in the Town of Dix, Schuyler County. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot, but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. The driver of the vehicle was identified as James A. MacMillan, age 28 of Wellsburg, NY. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as David M. McGuire, age 34 of Lowman, NY. McGuire was arrested by State Troopers from a warrant out of Chemung County for Petit Larceny. MacMillan was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the 1st degree, a class E felony, driving while ability impaired by drugs, a class E felony, and reckless endangerment in the first degree, a class D felony. Charges allege that MacMillan was driving with a revoked license while impaired by drugs, and that a Sheriff’s Deputy had to take evasive action to avoid being struck by MacMillan. MacMillan was arraigned in the Town of Reading Court where he was remanded to jail on $20,000 bail $40,000 bond.The incident is still ongoing and several charges are pending in both Chemung and Schuyler Counties.
