The Print Shop at Keuka Lake Enterprises of ARC of Yates, is very excited about their latest purchase of a large scale, full color Canon printer, which will greatly expand their ability to serve local customers. “We can print anything from 36” wide to as long as you want it to be”, said Brittney Catlin, Print Shop Designer. “This is really exciting. We will even be able to print blueprints for contractors and architects.”The new printer was made possible with funds from two community minded organizations: the First Baptist Church and the Yates Community Endowment. Judi Scheel, and Ed Castillo, a long time Penn Yan Academy Math teacher, brought the idea to the Board Members of the Church who agreed it would be a wonderful use of their funds. Scheel and Castitllo made the donation in honor of the Reverend Douglas Passage and his wife, Louella. “The Reverend was a former ARC Board Member and Louella was on the Penn Yan Library Board. They were both so community minded we thought it was a good thing to do.”, said Scheel. Mary Worth, Board Member of the Yates Community Endowment, felt the printer would be a boost for area business, organizations and individuals. “Posters! No more driving to Geneva, Canandaigua or Rochester to get a poster printed! I’m so grateful for the donations to the Endowment because they help strengthen our community….right now and forever. The ARC Print Shop is a great business that will be of service to everyone”, said Worth.The Print Shop productivity has also been enhanced with the addition of etching machinery which works on glass and wood products. One customer, Abandon Brewery, had over 70 tap handles and growler cases etched with their name for distribution to their customers. “The quality is there. The commitment is there. We’re ready for more business and we hope to create more jobs, not only for ARC supported individuals, but for the public as well”, said Teri Spoor, Print Shop Manager. “We need to grow and to let the public know about all the great things we are capable of here.”Posters, blueprints, lamination, etched wine glasses and wood frames are still not the whole story of the miracle taking place at the Print Shop. Less than a year after suffering severe flood damage and relocation, the Print Shop is working at full steam ahead.“Some businesses know we have a wonderful, high tech, mail room team in place and they use us for everything” said Elaine Foy, Workshop Supervisor in Mailing Services Division. “We have done over 60,000 pieces to date and it’s only mid-March.”The activity in Mailing Services includes printing, folding, tabbing (those little white circles that help close newsletters) and mailing.
