FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil says the first half of this week will be quiet, and cool, but changes are on the way.
– By Wednesday temperatures will be moving through the 40s and into the low-50s. Those temperatures will continue on Thursday with high-temps pushing into the mid-50s for the Finger Lakes.
– Rain enters the picture by late-week, which will transition into snowfall, but the changing cold will be short-lived as a major pattern change is on the horizon.
– Montreuil said on Monday that “the European Ensembles show consistently above normal temperatures through the end of February. In fact, if you average the daily maximum temperature overall 51 ensemble members, only two of the next 15 days have temperatures below 32 degrees — today and Tuesday.”
– He says that snow will be hard to come by over the next several weeks with the trend that’s setting up. He added, “Temperatures appear to be near or above normal each week through the end of March. By the end of March, the average high in the Finger Lakes is in the 40s, so anything warmer than that will certainly start to feel spring like.”
