Eric Dungey threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, and Syracuse held off No. 22 North Carolina State 51-41 on Saturday night to become eligible for the postseason for the first time in five years.
Syracuse (6-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), which snapped a two-game losing streak last time out with a 40-37, double-overtime victory over North Carolina, improved to 5-0 in the Carrier Dome.
N.C. State (5-2, 2-2), which was coming off its first loss of the season, a 41-7 thrashing at No. 2 Clemson, fell behind early, rallied, then ran out of time at the end. Orange linebacker Andrew Armstrong sealed the victory with an interception at the Wolfpack 23-yard line with 2:18 left.

PREVIEW:
Another week, another home game, and another matchup against a team from the Tar Heel state. The Orange (5-2, 2-2 ACC) host ACC Atlantic Division foe No. 22 NC State (5-1, 2-1 ACC) Saturday night inside the Carrier Dome. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
It’s Syracuse’s penultimate home game of the year, and head coach Dino Babers expects the Dome to be rocking. The Orange are a perfect 4-0 in the Loud House this season, and a fifth win would be the most since the Orange finished their 2003 home slate with a 5-2 record.
A win on Saturday would improve Syracuse’s record to 6-2, a mark that makes the team bowl-eligible for the first time since 2013. The Orange’s four-year bowl drought is tied for the second-longest among current Power-Five teams. Read More
