Deputies say a 46-year-old Sodus man is facing multiple charges, but was released on her own recognizance after a violent accident on State Route 88 last weekend.
The accident happened on October 13th in the Town of Sodus.
First responders were called to State Route 88 for a personal injury accident. However, the operator of that vehicle was not at the scene upon arrival – and located approximately 3 miles away.
Deputies say that the driver, Ira Bristol, 46, of Sodus was traveling down Route 88 when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. It then rolled multiple times – becoming airborne, before striking a pair of trees.
He climbed out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
Subsequent investigation determined that Bristol was intoxicated during the accident. He was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to keep right, and moving from lane unsafely.
Bristol was ultimately transported to Newark Wayne Community Hospital. He suffered head and shoulder injuries in the wreck.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Sodus Center Fire Department, Wayne County ALS and Newark Ambulance.
