ANOTHER STEAMER: Heat index could reach, exceed 100 degrees

Heat index values will approach the century mark.

The calendar might say September, and fall might be a couple weeks away – but it will feel like mid-summer, as temperatures push into the 90s.

It’s prompted the National Weather Service to issue another heat advisory for the entire region. It’s active until 8 pm.

It is anticipated that the combination of air temperatures in the low-mid 90s and high relative humidity will make it ‘feel-like’ 100 degrees this afternoon.

Drink plenty of water and try to avoid strenuous physical activity, especially during the advisory time frame.

Also, stay in air conditioning as much as possible through the afternoon to avoid over exposure to the hot weather.

Forecasters in Rochester say it will be the 21st day in the 90s in Rochester. That ranks as the 9th hottest since 1871.

Temperatures and humidity are expected to decline on Thursday, potentially marking the end of the steamy weather that made summer 2018 one to remember.
