An Auburn woman who was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Grant Avenue on Sunday – has died from the injuries she sustained.
Cayuga County dispatchers told the Auburn Citizen that the first call for the incident came in at 8:42 p.m., and the Auburn Police Department and the Auburn Fire Department were dispatched to 218 Grant Ave. and arrived on the scene at 8:46 pm.
The Auburn Police Department said in a press release on Monday that a 20-year-old woman was walking across the street when she was hit by a pickup truck. Upon arrival, it was determined that she was suffering from possibly life threatening injuries.
A TLC Ambulance left the scene around 9:05 pm and brought the patient to the parking lot behind the Grant Avenue M&T Bank, where LifeNet was waiting. The victim was then transported to Upstate University Hospital.

Brittney Carnicelli, a bystander who was working at the Applebee’s restaurant across the street from the accident, told the Citizen she and some of her coworkers witnessed the accident.
“I saw her fly up on the windshield … then she flew up off the windshield onto the ground,” Carnicelli said.
Auburn police say the woman died around 4:30 am on Monday.
The driver of the truck remained on the scene and has been cooperating with authorities, APD said. Since the investigation is still ongoing and family has yet to be notified, the names of the driver and pedestrian are being withheld at this time.
Auburn police officers and detectives don’t know why the woman entered the road and are attempting to gather more information from witnesses, bystanders or people passing by who may have witnessed anything related to the accident, according to the Citizen.
APD requests that area businesses review their surveillance camera footage to see if their cameras captured the accident. If cameras have related footage, businesses are asked to contact APD.
