Weather conditions across the Finger Lakes will be much nicer over the next few days thanks to an area of high pressure from Canada.
Before this high arrives though, the low pressure system that brought yesterday’s rain and thunder is still our primary influencer today.
This low is now situated well north into Canada with its cold front extending south across New England. Currently over the Finger Lakes is a small wave of high pressure, which will bring a pleasant day to the region today.
There is a secondary wave of lower pressure over the Upper Great Lakes which will swing through overnight tonight. This will then be followed by an area of high pressure which will build south from Canada.
So, for today, watch for areas of thick morning fog, especially in valley locations that saw heavy rain yesterday. The fog will gradually burn off this morning, leaving a mix of sun and clouds. Humidity levels will be lower than in recent days, but dewpoints will still be in the 60s.
Look for an afternoon high temperature within a couple of degrees on either side of 80 degrees.
This evening, a couple showers may sneak in, especially for areas close to the Great Lakes. By Friday morning, any showers should be south of the region and skies will again turn partly cloudy.
Humidity levels will crash during the day on Friday, with dewpoints backing into the mid or even low 50s with high temperatures in the upper 70s. After the muggy, oppressive humidity, it will feel wonderful on Friday.
