Dwello removed as Waterloo town Planning Board chairman

The Town Board voted 5-0 Monday to remove Bob Dwello as chairman of the town Planning Board. Dwello would remain a member of the board.

That move was followed by a unanimous vote to name Reed Balewski as chairman, effective immediately for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2024.

“The chairman of the Planning Board serves at the pleasure of the Town Board,” said Supervisor Don Trout.

Asked if there was a reason for the removal of Dwello, Trout said no reason will be given.

“We respect Mr. Dwello and will not get into why we are doing this. He remains on the board,” Trout said.

Contacted later, Dwello said his removal was “news to me.”

“I have not been told they were thinking of doing this or if they had concerns about me as chairman,” he said. “This is the first I’ve heard of it. I can’t think of why and will look into it.”

Both Dwello and Balewski are long-time members of the Planning Board.
