If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard much about the search for Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ next president, it’s because there has not been much to report.
“We’re just getting started,” said Andrew “Andy” McMaster, co-chair of the recently formed presidential search committee.
McMaster, a 1974 Hobart grad, is chairing the committee with Cynthia “Cindy” Gelsthorpe Fish, a 1982 William Smith graduate.
Both are vice chairs of the HWS Board of Trustees. Tom Bozutto is the board’s president.
He said that as the search process begins, it comes with a level of comfort knowing that the administration is in capable hands.
HWS Professor Emeritus Pat McGuire was named interim president following the departure of former president Greg Vincent, who resigned amid plagiarism allegations connected to his doctoral dissertation at the University of Pennsylvania.
“We’re going to take our time,” said McMaster. “It’s important to us to make sure we get the right president.”
