Rain finally coming to the Finger Lakes? Possibly this weekend, but chances improve next week

The weekend is shaping up to be a great one for getting out in the Finger Lakes.

Clouds will build on Saturday, making for a more comfortable afternoon – especially as any chance of rain is expected to hold off until the overnight hours.

Sunday will usher in significant change, as temperatures remain moderate – but the region sees its first real chance for soaking rain. While it’s not a lock – local meteorologists say that there is approximately a 50/50 shot at areas seeing a solid, soaking 1-2 inches of rainfall before noon on Sunday.

That rain will go a long way to clearing some of the rainfall deficit that has built up over the first half of this summer.

The pattern change will reinforce itself next week as temperatures remain moderate in the upper-70s to low-80s, with a good chance for pop up showers and storms every day next week.

The new pattern should allow for the rainfall deficit to slowly be worked away as the days progress.
