It was just a normal day for Red Creek volunteer firefighter Brian Kuhlman.
Kuhlman doesn’t drive and rode his bike to respond to the scene of an accident Saturday.
His job that day was to direct traffic near the emergency scene at the intersection of routes 104 and 104-A.
“So I left my bike on the opposite side of the road by a sign and I went to go home and the bike was gone,” Kuhlman said.
Kuhlman is angry and doesn’t understand why anybody would do this.
He’s open about his learning disability and how he doesn’t have a job, but he enjoys volunteering at the fire house.
“I’ve been doing it for 15 years at my old department in Ovid and I just wanted to keep it up so I joined here,” he said.
“Pretty bright turquoise bike, brand new 24 inch men’s bike. I’ve never seen one like it the color and its pretty identifiable,” Red Creek Fire Department training officer Richard Letson said.
While Letson works alongside Kuhlman, he simply praised him.
