Skaneateles High School student dies; district offers counseling

A Skaneateles High School student died Tuesday evening, and the district is offering counseling, Skaneateles Superintendent Ken Slentz announced today.

Marissa Reilly would have started her junior year at Skaneateles High School in the fall, Slentz said. He said she was active in Odyssey of the Mind, an international science and problem-solving competition.

"Her teammates are certainly grieving tonight as are a number of our kids and families who knew Marissa well,'' Slentz said. "Needless to say, a tragic and terribly saddening situation for our students, staff, and community."

The grief session is at 10 a.m. Thursday in the high school counseling office.
