Mets walk off on Nimmo HR after deGrom gem

A walk-off pinch-hit three-run home run by lovable Brandon Nimmo in the bottom of the 10th gave Mets ace Jacob deGrom something to smile about after another spectacular outing in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over the Phillies at Citi Field.

deGrom spun eight brilliant innings, lowering his ERA to 1.68 to tie all-time Mets great Dwight Gooden for the best first-half ERA in franchise history. Gooden set the record in 1985, the year he won the National League Cy Young Award.

Flourishing shortstop Amed Rosario started the 10th-inning rally with a two-out double before Jose Reyes walked to bring up Nimmo, who belted the first pitch from Mark Leiter Jr. 433 feet to right-center field, according to Statcastâ„¢. The affable outfielder beamed as he ran around the bases then thanked the Citi Field faithful in a postgame interview broadcast over the public address system.
