On Tuesday, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors went into executive session to discuss the investigation into former Emergency Management Director Melissa Taylor.
She was placed on administrative leave, and then last week announced that she would be resigning. Several supervisors, including Fayette Town Supervisor Cindy Lorenzetti and and Varick Town Supervisor Bob Hayssen have been critical of the investigation.
While Board Chairman Bob Shipley promised answers at Tuesday’s meeting – Supervisor Lorenzetti said she has a lot of questions still. Seneca Falls Police Chief Stu Peenstra, Seneca Falls Police Lieut. Tim Snyder and Waterloo Police Chief Jason Godley all attended Tuesday’s meeting in hopes of lobbying on-behalf of Taylor.
“She’s been a huge asset to law enforcement, an integral part of what we do,” Peenstra said after. “She supports what we do and aggressively pursues grants, which help police in a variety of ways.”
Godley told the Finger Lakes Times that it would be a ‘setback’ if the Board accepted Taylor’s resignation. “If they accept her resignation, it will be a setback. So we hope they won’t accept it. We think Melissa will come back if the board doesn’t accept her resignation.”
