Cayuga County seeking new Veterans Service Agency director

The Cayuga County Veterans Service Agency is continuing its search for a new leader after its director of nine years retired earlier this month, leaving the agency with essentially half its staff.

The county has received several applications to fill the role vacated by former director Larry Wilt, an Air Force veteran who started in April 2009, according to County Human Resources Administrator Michael Russell.

While a job listing on the county website lists a deadline of June 30, Russell said he expects the county would extend that deadline.

“We want to make sure the candidate pool is wide enough to pick from,” Russell said.
