A regular guest in Seneca Falls since 2002, actress Karolyn Grimes will be back this week to promote the It’s A Wonderful Life Museum and greet fans.
Many here believe Seneca Falls was the inspiration for director Frank Capra when he made his 1946 classic film “It’s A Wonderful Life,” which was set in the fictional town of Bedford Falls. Capra had visited Seneca Falls prior to making the movie.
The museum Board of Trustees will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the museum, 32 Fall St. The public is invited to view the exhibits, meet the trustees and learn about future plans. A brief program will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Grimes will be a special guest. She will be here from Monday to Saturday to help promote the museum and greet fans who cannot go to Seneca Falls in December when the annual Wonderful Life Festival is held.
Also present will be producer and director Kevin Stillmock, who will film Grimes in Seneca Falls Thursday for a special Christmas show for the Wonderful Living channel that also will include “woman on the street” interviews.
The museum’s five-year plan will be detailed at the open house. Also, there will be brief segments remembering the Seneca Theater, the first movie theater in town and now the home of the museum, and Charles Fornesi, the man who built and owned the theater. Fornesi was the first Italian immigrant to permanently settle in Seneca Falls.
