As Vice President Mike Pence arrived Tuesday at Nucor Steel Auburn, he was greeted by more than 100 protesters who gathered outside the facility to criticize the Trump administration’s immigration actions.
When Pence opened his remarks following a tour of the steel mill, he addressed the ongoing situation at the U.S.-Mexico border. There have been more than 2,300 children separated from their parents due to the Trump administration’s decision to prosecute those who enter the country illegally. Children who accompany their parents across the border are then placed into shelters.
.
As other Trump administration officials have done in the past few days, Pence deflected blame for the controversy.
