The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse theater at Emerson Park is moving toward potential renovations after a Cayuga County legislative committee approved leading a state review process.
The Legislature’s Public Works committee on Tuesday approved a resolution to act as the lead agency for a State Environmental Quality Review, which requires a governmental body to identify and mitigate environmental impacts of any possible work, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
County Buildings and Grounds superintendent Gary Duckett said the SEQR allows the county and the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, which manages the Playhouse, to see what the state would allow them to do, after which they could begin to plan or design new features.
“What this is basically finding out is: Is this something we can do?” Duckett said.
