Judge asks for more info in case of Red Creek parent challenging Section V

The hearing stemming from a controversial injunction sought in February by the parent of a Red Creek girls basketball player after his daughter was ejected from a Section V Tournament game has been delayed again.

It was scheduled for Tuesday but has been pushed back indefinitely, Section V executive director Kathy Hoyt said. It’s the third delay. Hearings were initially set for early and late March.

The case challenges Section V’s lack of an appeals process for players who, by state rule, must serve a one-game suspension after being ejected from a game. Matt Wilbur, the parent of Red Creek freshman guard Izzy Wilbur, filed the injunction in State Supreme Court. Attorneys for Wilbur and Section V met with Justice J. Scott Odorisi within the last few weeks, Hoyt said.
