An Auburn man was sentenced to prison Thursday for burglarizing a home in Cayuga County.
In February, Brent Tanner Sr., 30, of 7 Grover St. Apt. B2, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree burglary, a class D felony. At the time, he admitted to stealing several items from a home on Wall Street last fall, including a flat-screen TV.
At sentencing Thursday, Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said he was “saddened” to see Tanner back in court. Tanner was convicted of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance in 2008.
“This is an example of hereditary addiction,” Budelmann said, noting that Tanner’s father and brother also struggle with substance abuse. “I hope he takes advantage of treatment in prison.”
