Geneva City Manager Search Committee meets for first time at HWS

The City Manager Search Community Committee met for its first meeting at Demarest Hall at Hobart William Smith. The group met from 11:30am-1:00pm. Mayor Ron Alcock greeted the members and thanked them for volunteering for this very important task. After introductions, the members signed confidentiality agreements. This process being confidential is an industry practice that allows the privacy of the applicants until they reach the final rounds of interviews. The committee reviewed and received copies of the position ad that was posted, the community survey results, and the evaluation forms that will be used for the process.

The committee then reviewed the projected timeline of the process and signed up for subcommittees for material review. The members received confidential candidate books with all of the applications in them.

The next steps for this process will take place on May 9th when City Council will meet in Executive Session at City Hall’s second floor conference room at 6:00pm. The Council will review applications and prepare for the telephone interviews that will come. The telephone interviews (and follow-up from) will include City Council, City Clerk, Human Resource Director, and the City Manager Search Community Committee. After these steps have been completed, this will conclude the work of the Search Community Committee. City Council will be the body that moves the process further to selection of the next City Manager. There have been some tentative dates established and when those are firm for further steps, those will be posted on our website.

The committee members and other information are listed on our website under “latest news” on the homepage or just simply search “City Manager Search” on our site’s search bar.
