Marion Central School and their award winning musical performances are doing it again this year on March 9th and 10th. Roughly 60 talented students are performing the Tony Award winning “Will Rogers Follie”s. They will take you on the roller coaster ride of the life of the entertainer of all trades, Will Rogers. Marion students are a cast of excellent young talent who will dance, tempo tap, sing, perform rope tricks and more up and down a student designed stair case that is so massive plans began in July.
Reese Holohan, who plays Will Rogers, decided to create a set piece for the musical program that will greatly enhance the quality of the musical. The idea came as he was deciding on a project to achieve his Eagle Scout Badge. The project could then be sold by the program to another school, company or perhaps another Boy Scout for his own Eagle Scout badge so that the money goes back into the musical programs budget. The staircase is 6’8 “high, has 100 stair risers and one quarter mile of 2×4’s or 2×2’s, yet two 13 year-old kids can lift every section.
Will Rogers Follies focuses on the life and career of famous performer and humorist Will Rogers, using the backdrop of Ziegfeld Follies because every episode of his life is the form of a huge production number. The production contains Rogers’s wisdom and common sense throughout the production.
Marion Central schools performance of Will Rogers Follies is so engaging with rope twirling, solos, flawless dance numbers, Wild West Show acts and tambourine hats you won’t want it to end.
Don’t miss our production on Friday and Saturday, March 9th and 10th. All seats are reserved and tickets are now on sale for the general public in the lobby of the high school building. The evening shows begin at 8 pm and there will also be a Saturday matinee at 2 pm. The Marion Central School Players look forward to saying “Howdy” and “Welcome to the Ziegfeld Follies”.
