In an update at 2:15 p.m. Sheriff David Gould lifted the travel ban, which had been issued this morning.
“Sheriff David Gould reports that The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the Roads Closed Except for Essential Travel issued early this morning,” a statement said. “Caution is still advised as roads may still be slippery or snow covered in some areas.”
Road conditions vary wildly throughout the region.
Original Report
Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould says that all roads in Cayuga County are closed except for ‘essential travel’.
It means that travel is restricted at this point to emergency personnel and others performing activities to save lives, prevent injury or protect property.
Cayuga County Legislature Chairman Patrick Mahunik has directed all non-essential County Services be closed and all non-essential County employees NOT to report to work today due to weather and road conditions.
