While the Finger Lakes enjoyed 60+ degree weather for two straight days — it’s back to ‘reality’ for at least one — as the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for some of the region.
In the Finger Lakes, the Winter Weather Advisory is active for Yates, Tompkins, Cortland, Steuben, and Schuyler counties. Upwards of 3-4 inches of snow are expected for these locations, but with the addtiion of possible icing – an advisory was activated.

Here’s the latest from FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil:
– A little freezing rain could mix, but most of the precipitation should remain wet snow.
– Heavier precipitation will fall across the Southern Tier, while northern parts of the Finger Lakes will see very little, or no accumulation at all.
– The snow will quickly taper off between 3 and 4 p.m.
– On Friday, temperatures will rise into the 40s for most of the region, spurring any precipitation that falls to be rain.
– The weekend looks similar at this point, with rain and warmer-than-normal temperatures expected throughout.
