State Police: 12-year-old Port Byron student makes ‘terroristic threat’ on social media

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on felony charges, according to State Police, after making a terroristic threat about students at the Port Byron School District.

Police say that claims were made on social media about him harming students — during the school day.

Investigators say they don’t believe the threats would have been carried out, nor do they believe the threat was credible. However, the child was still charged.

The child will appear in Cayuga County Family Court on Tuesday.
