Auburn schools and law enforcement train for any situation

Auburn Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said he was on the phone all day with parents who were concerned about their child's safety at school. Pirozzolo said he re-assured parents that there is a plan and they are actively reviewing it, preparing for the worst.

Since 2007, Auburn schools practiced safety for shootings, fires and weather situations. The plans are reviewed and updated every year with law enforcement. Pirozzolo said they practice these drill at least four times a year.

Counselors, resource officers and staff are always looking for behavior changes in students.

"Making sure our adults are out visible in the hallways making sure our SROs are out there in the hallway – anything we can do to make our children feel comfortable" Pirozzolo said.
