Former Trumansburg officer sentenced to prison time

Former Trumansburg police officer and Marine veteran Andrew Jacobsen was sentenced to two to four years of prison time following his arrest in September on charges of theft and parole violation.

Jacobsen, 32, was surrounded in his home and taken into police custody on Sept. 26th, accused of stealing $4,000 worth of jewelry from a Trumansburg home, which he then sold to a pawn shop in Ithaca. He was also sought on an outstanding felony bench warrant on a charge of forgery.

Later that evening, Jacobsen escaped custody, pushing an officer and fleeing while uncuffed on a cigarette break. He led local and state police on a 24-hour manhunt before being captured in Tioga County.
