Distracted driver who killed Walworth man charged with criminally negligent homicide

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts says that a Greece man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide, as well as others, after a fatal car vs. pedestrian accident on October 7th in Walworth.

The accident happened on Teresa Drive when Stephen F. Mazzochetti Jr., 54, of Greeze was operating his vehicle and struck a pedestrian who was on a sidewalk.

He has now been charged with criminally negligent homicide, third-degree assault, reckless driving, failure to exercise due care, aggravated unlicensed operation, driving on sidewalk, and others.

Roger E. Drouin of Teresa Dr. in Walworth was walking north on the sidewalk when the crash took place. Deputies said at the time that Mazzochetti was distracted.

Drouin was transported to Strong Hospital via Mercy Flight where he succumbed to his injuries.

Mazzochetti was arraigned in Wayne County Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.
