Dryden’s bloody past in the spotlight of new TV series; residents upset

An Upstate New York town has reluctantly come face to face with its murderous past thanks to a new TV documentary series exploring a series of brutal deaths that occurred two decades ago.

In the late 1980s and ’90s, Dryden, NY, in Tompkins County, saw a series of killings that shook the community to its core. Now, Investigation Discovery’s five-part “Village of the Damned” series is opening up old wounds, and area residents are not pleased.

“It’s really profiting off people’s misery and what’s the point,” Dryden Town Supervisor Jason Liefer told WBNG-TV. “If they want to come and do a documentary about Dryden, we have a whole lot of good things that we can talk about.”
