Last summer, Jason Stein answered an online ad for a mother-daughter prostitution team in the village of Weedsport. But, instead of a woman and her 12-year-old girl, Stein soon found out it was actually a New York state trooper.
Stein was one of 11 people arrested in a prostitution sting in Cayuga County. State police said investigators worked with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI to carry out the operation in Weedsport on June 9, 2016.
Stein, formally of Liverpool, was initially charged with first-degree attempted rape and second-degree attempted patronizing a person for prostitution, both felonies. However, upon further investigation, troopers also discovered he had child pornography on his computer. The 35-year-old was then charged with the additional felony of possessing an obscene performance by a child.
