Weather improves dramatically over next several days for FLX

The Finger Lakes is heading into another prolonged period of above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation that will persist through the weekend.

Yesterday was the first day of the sunny and dry weather as high pressure started to build in. After the frosty start, afternoon temperatures ended up close to normal for mid-October.

However, with the introduction of steady south winds as high pressure settles to our southeast, the temperature will continue to climb.

Temperatures are starting the day ranging through the 40s, but that temperature will quickly warm as the sun climbs higher in the sky with no cloud cover expected.

By this afternoon, high temperatures will be approaching 70 degrees in some locales, with upper 60s widespread for most other areas.

This is about 7-10 degrees warmer than normal but well shy of any record highs.

Overnight lows tonight will range from the low 50s across the northern Finger Lakes to the mid and upper 40s across the Southern Tier.
