A former Cornell student won $71 million in September from a lawsuit following a fatal crash that caused her to become disabled.
Myra Moran, a 94-year-old woman, died from injuries sustained in the two-car crash that occurred in August 2012 on Route 79 in Dryden.
Morgan Wang, a former Cornell student from Brooklyn, suffered a fractured back and spinal cord injury that caused her to permanently withdraw from school, according to the New York Post.
A state police investigation determined Neil Sexton of Nashua, N.H., was driving a SUV westbound on Route 79 when he veered into the eastbound lane and struck a 2002 minivan driven by Moran’s daughter, Laraine Ericson, 59, of Newfield. Ericson and her son, who was also in the minivan, were taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
