Cuomo: Cayuga, other NY counties get $25M to fight opioid addiction

Sixteen New York counties, including Cayuga, will receive a share of more than $25 million in federal funding to combat opioid addiction, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Treatment programs that serve the upstate New York counties will be awarded up to $16 million, according to the governor’s office. The grants include $1.8 million for Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare, which offers inpatient and outpatient services for addicts.

The local governments, which have been identified as high-need counties due to the rise of opioid addiction, will also get $1.8 million to fund treatment programs, including medication-assisted treatment, and provide naloxone training.
