Porsch wins Democratic Primary in Seneca County

While the official results are still being tabulated, it appears as though November’s District Attorney’s race will be uncontested.

After an intense primary challenge by Joe Sapio, former Fayette Town Judge, Barry Porsch not only won the Republican Primary on Tuesday, but also secured an overwhelming majority of write-in votes in the Democratic Primary to ensure that he will appear on at-least three lines on the ballot.

Porsch received 547 write-in votes to Sapio’s 292, and while the numbers had not been calculated for the Conservative and Independence primaries — it would mean a steep, uphill battle for the challenger.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday evening, the Sapio campaign had not decided what they would do moving forward, or how they would proceed. While there are avenues available beyond ending the bid for District Attorney — it remains to be seen how that portion will play out.
