Garee arraignment on threat charge set for Thursday

The Seneca Falls man accused of threatening physical harm to Supervisor Greg Lazzaro and Seneca Meadows Landfill Regional Manager Kyle Black will be formally arraigned in Town Court at 5 p.m. Thursday.

John C. Garee, 69, of Seneca Falls, is charged with a Class D felony count of making a terrorist threat.

Seneca Falls Police arrested Garee on Aug. 11. His first court appearance after being charged was Aug. 15, when a mandatory not guilty plea was entered and bail was set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bail bond. Garee was released after posting bail. Orders of protection against Lazzaro and Black were issued by the court.

On Thursday, Garee is scheduled to be arraigned with an attorney present.

The Seneca County District Attorney’s Office has recused itself from prosecuting the case. County Judge Dennis Bender has assigned David Mashewske, assistant DA in Yates County, as special prosecutor. The case has also been moved to Waterloo Town Court for any proceedings after Thursday’s arraignment in Seneca Falls Town Court.
