Generations Bank announces continued support of local DARE Programs

Generations Bank announced today that it has continued its pledge to purchase key materials for the DARE program for 1,500 students in the 2017/2018 school year for the third year of a 5 year commitment until 2020.

On Monday, August 21, 2017, DARE Officers from Cayuga, Seneca and Ontario counties joined bank officials and representatives from the New York State DARE Officers Association to pick up materials for the 2017/2018 school year.

Representatives from Auburn Police Department, Geneva Police Department, Seneca County Sheriff’s Department and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office were present to pick up the materials needed to bring the program the children in their communities. Elementary students in Auburn, Clifton Springs, Geneva, Phelps, Romulus, Seneca Falls, Southern Cayuga, South Seneca and Waterloo will benefit from the materials. Total contribution year over year for the materials is $6,700.

“Generations Bank is deeply committed to the communities in which we serve and actively seek out opportunities to support children and families. We see DARE as a natural partner for the bank with their programs that focus on kids and their personal safety”, noted Menzo Case, President & CEO of Generations Bank. “DARE is a perfect match since its ‘keepin’ it Real’ curriculum teaches and develops the social and emotional skills kids need to make safe and responsible decisions.”

Later this fall, the Bank is again the sponsor for a returning statewide training seminar for DARE being held by the New York State DARE Officers Association and the New York State Sheriffs’ Association entitled ‘Back to School – What Every LEO and School Professional Should Know About Teen Drug Abuse’ presented by nationally recognized speaker Lynn Reimer. The seminar is being held in October in Waterloo.
