A Cayuga County agency was awarded a two-year, $200,000 grant from New York state to improve its domestic violence services in the community.
According to a press release from the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency was one of four community-based organizations to receive the grant, which will run from Oct. 1, 2017 through Sept. 30, 2019; the other agencies were ACCORD of Allegany County, the Center for Safety and Change in Rockland County and the Westchester County Office for Women.
“It is so gratifying to be able to extend the reach of these potentially life-saving projects by expanding the program to four more communities,” said Gwen Wright, the executive director for the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. “When programs partner with law enforcement and other critical actors in the response to domestic violence, more victims can be made safe, more offenders can be held accountable and fewer deaths will occur.”
