Bristol woman airlifted to Strong after colliding with tree

A 31-year-old Bristol woman was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with a serious leg injury after a car accident on Footer Rd. in Ontario County.

Deputies say they responded with Finger Lakes Ambulance, Bristol Fire Department and Cheshire Fire Department for the report of a vehicle crash on Footer Rd.

The operator, identified as Delanda Covill, 31, of Bristol reportedly fell asleep at the wheel on Footer Rd., while traveling southbound, and struck a tree.

Covill was trapped inside the vehicle due to heavy crush damage to the left front of the minivan, and after a lengthy extrication process she was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries to her left leg.

The crash remains under investigation, according to deputies.
