The Finger Lakes Water Hub is fully staffed, but the state Department of Environmental Conservation is not.
Cayuga County leaders have discussed the shifting staffing changes in the DEC both at the Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council and the Cayuga County Water Quality Management Agency, and are pleased with the hub’s creation but also concerned about the declining resources in other parts of the state agency, specifically in the water division.
Watershed Coordinator Aimee Clinkhammer was the first staff member of the hub, hired back in January. In May, Scott Cook joined the team, and will lead the four-member group, which includes Research Scientist Anthony Prestigiacomo and Senior Research Scientist Lewis McCaffrey.
