Ithaca Festival returns for 40th year

Marking its 40th anniversary, the Ithaca Festival returns this weekend with the theme of “Celebrating Like It’s Our First.”

Once again, the event will kick off Friday with the festival parade, which beginning at 6:30 p.m. will wind its way down North Cayuga Street toward downtown Ithaca.

“The parade will have more than 110 entrants, with 2,800 participants, which is pretty astounding — that’s a lot of people,” said festival director Ben “Barnaby” Greenberg. “And changing the parade to Friday last year I thought was a huge hit — it freed people up for the weekend, which was really nice.”
