Together, Generations Bank and Seneca County House of Concern announce a weekend of activities to benefit the hungry in Seneca County. Generations Bank will again be hosting its Taste & Tunes event and The Seneca County House of Concern will be hosting its 2nd Annual Canal Crawl Paddling Poverty.
Taste & Tunes is set to take place at Generations Bank’s headquarters, located at 20 E Bayard St., Seneca Falls, from 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18. The event benefits three organizations that help the hungry: Seneca Country House of Concern, Trevor’s Gift and the Seneca Falls Back Pack program.
Taste & Tunes will feature tastings from various wineries, breweries, and restaurants in Seneca County, along with live music from local musicians. Tickets cost $20 pre-sale and $25 at the door and include a stemless wine glass and tastings throughout the event. Tickets will be available for purchase next month at Café XIX on East Bayard St., Generations Bank at 19 Cayuga St. and CVDesigns Boutique on Fall St.
The Canal Crawl Paddling Poverty is an annual event to raise funds to support the House of Concern. Last years’ event proved to be a success in bringing friends, supporters and the community together for a fun-filled day of outdoor activity while raising money to benefit the organization’s food pantry. The event, which is set to take place at 9 a.m. on Aug. 19, is a day of relaxing paddling down the Cayuga/Seneca Canal from the Waterloo Locks to the Seneca Falls Community Center. The course has been extended to include Van Cleef Lake this year. There are multiple stops along the way for snacks and a scavenger hunt. When paddlers disembark at the Seneca Falls Community Center there will be food, music, awards, and raffles. Participants are asked to raise their entry fees by asking family, friends, and co-workers to donate pledge money. Prizes will be awarded to those who raise the most money. Participants can enter individually or form teams of four. Being it is a fun, light-hearted event, teams are encouraged to give themselves a name and wear costumes or decorate their vessels.
