As the storms cleared out of the area, crews were called to the scene of a structure fire on Eelpot Rd. in Naples.

Deputies in Ontario County say that around 8:24 pm they responded to 9030 Eelpot Rd. for the report of a barn fire. When they arrived on scene, deputies found smoke coming from the structure.

A neighbor, identified as Phil P. Terzo, attempted to put out the fire — but it had spread too quickly. By the time crews arrived on scene from surrounding fire districts, the entire barn was engulfed with flames.

Naples, Maxfield, North Cohocton, Richmond, Atlanta, Middlesex and Perkinsville Fire Departments all responded to the fire.

The barn is insured, according to deputies, but the structure was said to be a total loss.

The owner of the property was identified as James S. Rathbun.

Two volunteer firefighters suffered from dehydration while fighting the fire and were treated at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
