Water rescue deployed to save a man, dog in Lansing

A man and his dog have several departments to thank today, after a water rescue Friday night in Lansing. Fire Officials say the pair were walking near Ludlowville Road around 6:00 pm, when the dog jumped into Salmon Creek. The man jumped in after, and both were swept away by the rapid water.

The Lansing Fire Department were first on the scene, and called a nearby Ithaca Fire Department crew in to help. Ithaca Fire sent out an inflatable rescue boat to save the man and the dog; the rescuer was able to get them into the boat and bring everyone to safety.
