New York State Police say that two Syracuse residents were charged following a traffic stop in the town of Victor.
Troopers say that a vehicle was reportedly seen going at a high rate of speed on Thursday by a trooper who was on patrol on interstate 490. They say that while the driver, 23-year-old Rahfet N. Shehadeh, was being interviewed an odor of marijuana was allegedly coming from the vehicle.
According to troopers a search of the vehicle was carried out, during which a blue and yellow children’s book bag was reportedly discovered in the trunk. They say that the book bag was mostly unzipped, and that thumb-sized wrappings were reportedly seen in plain view. Troopers say there were a total of seven of these wrappings, which were wrapped in magazine paper, and that they were allegedly “consistent with packaged heroin.”
