Troopers: Hammondsport man illegally bought gun from Florida

On March 23rd members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested a Hammondsport man for felony weapons possession after an investigation into a gun that was illegally obtained.

Troopers arrested Michael T. Huffman, 53, of Hammondsport for third-degree criminal possession of a weapon — a Class D felony and third-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon in Urbana.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation into a .38 caliber revolver that was received via U.S. mail from Florida.

Huffman was arraigned in Urbana Town Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail.

Members of the U.S. Postal Inspection Services, Hammondsport Police, New York State Police Special Investigation Unit, Uniform Troopers and BCI Investigators all assisted with the investigation.
