Newt Gingrich ‘delighted’ with Cornell appearance

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich admitted he was concerned about how his visit to Cornell University would play out. Prominent Republicans visiting campuses in progressive cities can sometimes cause a stir, but everything was civil and respectful Wednesday night in Call Auditorium.

“I cannot tell you how delighted I am with the attitude, the tone and the willingness to really talk about and share ideas among a very diverse group, and I’m very grateful to all of you,” Gingrich told the packed auditorium before leaving the stage, adding he would take a page from President Donald Trump’s playbook and tweet how respectful the students of Cornell were.
