Watkins Glen wins State Championship at buzzer (video)

The Watkins Glen Lady Seneca’s trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half of Sunday’s NYSPHSAA Class C Championship Game before coming back to pull the game even late in the fourth quarter. Then with under 10 seconds left in the game, sophomore point guard Hannah Morse had the ball in her hands and this happened…

Morse’s buzzer-beater hung on the rim before dropping through capping an amazing Watkins Glen comeback and was the final shot in a fourth quarter that saw the Senecas outscore Port Jefferson 28-10. The final score, Watkins Glen 65, Port Jefferson 63 as the Senecas bring home their school’s first ever state championship.

Senior Amanda Pike scored a team-high 16 points while Class C State Tournament MVP Emilia Bond scored 14 points.

The Lady Senecas returned home to Watkins Glen with a full police escort on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm…
